Episode 81 - The Podcast!

   Once again HoXBCers, we come to you with a message of joy. no Hope! NO! Grease! It's the word that you heard, don't ya know! Either way we bring you stories of all things X, in a way that makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy on the insides!
   We are deep into Dark Phoenix country in issue 136, and unlike Hunter S Thompson, we can't fend these bats off with a flyswatter and mescaline. But we can pay a visit to Jean's parents, and the X-Mansion, and outer space. There is a lot of traveling in this book, just a warning. 
  Next up is issue 137,   sponsored by Pink Floyd! Well, kinda. The wacky band of Merry Mutants make their way to the Blue Area of the moon. Little known fact, this is also where The Blue Man Group is from, and The Watcher is just squatting in their house while they are on tour. He says he is watching the cat, but no one has seen the poor little guy in about three weeks. They are going to be so mad when they get home! Also in this issue, we wrap up the Phoenix Saga, and it really is a banger kids. Who lives, who dies, who mind wipes the children so they forget he stole their Halloween candy (Hint: It's Charles). Episode 80 - Beware the Juggerpod!

All right X-Men fanatics, we are in the deep end of the pool here! Episode 80 brings you to amazing comics from the Byrne Claremont hall of Uncanniness! 
First up in issue 134, Sebastian Shaw flashes his nipples again and forces Jean Grey to turn evil! Well, Shaw's nipples and the mental anguish caused by Mastermind's maniacal machinations! Will the X-Men survive, or will the Hellfire Club mess their business up?!?
Next up is Uncanny 135, and the Phoenix is coming out swinging! She has her sights set on everyone, and no person, place, or thing in the universe is safe! This is the arc that sets the bar for epic storytelling in comics, so break out those back issues and read along!

Episode 79 - The Cobalt Pod!

Come on in Blue Retrievers, we have some serious X-Reading to do this week, so let's jump right in!
First up is X-Men 132, where Scott and Jean take a moment to defile the Arizona desert with their filthy acts of love. Then they head for a showdown with The Hellfire Club, and things get sideways real quick! Wolverine tries his best to look menacing at the end of the book but... well, you'll see. And then you will never be able to unsee. 
Then in X-Men 133 Sebastian Shaw shows us his weird nipples. Again. And again. And again. His secret mutant power is mental anguish from seeing him topless, so buckle up, because it's gonna be a rocky road for a bit. BUT, we get to see Wolverine do what he does best, so there is always murder to look forward to! Join us for the fun won't you?

House of X Book Club Episode 78 - The Pod of Merlin!

Find me in the club, gonna do some stuff, looking for a dog, usin' a honey bun... That's how the song goes right? 50 Cent ain't got nothin' on me! 
Welcome back Book Clubbers, we have two great X-Issues for you this week! First up, we're goin' dancin! Cyclops, Jean and Nightcrawler are heading to disco night in a seedy part of town. Because that's where you take the guy that looks like the devil, punk rock disco! The rest of the X-Men go to Chicago to look at porn, I mean recruit Katherine Pryde! They meet up with Emma Frost, so I'm not sure why they needed a Hustler, but here we are! How will the first showdown between the X-Men and The White Queen go?!?
Next up is X-Men 131, where we pick up where last issue left us. Kitty is on the run from the Hellfire Club, and Phoenix comes in to comfort her. Then things get DARK. Get ready to be sad for a while, there is not much joy in this book for the next decade or so at least. The book is about to start the climb to the pinnacle of the comic book mountain so hold on tight!

Do you remember those times when you ate a whole box of those cookies with frosting in one sitting and then you weren't sure what was happening in your stomach but you WERE sure nothing good was going to happen for the next five to seven hours? House of X Book Club Episode 76 - Bedlam is the Podshee!

Welcome back Book Club clubbers! We have another exciting episode ready for your earholes! Just a quick warning, one of us had some tech issues, so we don't sound up to our usual standards. The issues are still great, so listen on!
First up we dive into X-Men 126 and the hunt for Mutant X! He's definitely gonna give it to ya! He also changes his name rather quickly this issue, so be ready for that. The whole team is out in force to face a mutant so powerful Moira is ready to go all scorched earth up in the moors!
Then we head right on into X-Men 127 where the story continues! This goes from Scotland to Alabama real quick, as Proteus (by way of Mutant X) becomes his own dad! And not in that awkward "I'm My Own Grandpa" song kinda way. Will he be able to defeat the X-Men and wear their skin like a plastic Halloween costume from the 80s? Listen in and find out!

House of X Book Club Episode 75 - Re-Pod the Mimic!

Hey kids! We hope you are having as much fun as we are cruising through the greatest era of X-Men ever! Let's jump right in shall we?
First up we have X-Men Annual 3. This book proves the renewed faith in the X-Men line as it is the first time they didn't just throw some reprints at the wall and hope they stick! We get some odd choices made by the being Arkon, as he can't decide where to drill for oil! Not really, but he does have some power issues on his home world and hopes to bully Thor into helping. Since he's not free he goes for the closest mutant alternate on his list. After that, wackiness ensues!
Next on the list is X-Men 125, where the madcap murderishness of Arcade continues to run amok! Will Collossus' new pants of the people lead him to victory? Or will his teammates show him the denim of defeat? Listen on and find out!

House of X Book Club Episode 74 - Cry Holopod!

Welcome back Blue Retrievers! We here at the House of X Book Club are mighty happy you are here! We have yet another banger for you so everybody hold onto your butts!
We are heading into the Arcade today! Not the cool one with Skee-Ball and awkward teenagers, but the horrible one with murder pinball and awkward teens! 
In issue 123, Spider-Man makes what is generously called a guest appearance. I'm not saying that description is incorrect, I'm just saying most of my guests don't out my secret identity to the streets of New York!
Next up we read issue 124, and boy howdy do things get weird! This one has everything! Robot cars, weird mazes that make you feel like you are tripping balls, and a dancing monkey that throws wooden nickels at your children. He's hard to spot and you may not even see him at all unless you take some really good drugs before you read the book. What other sort of nonsense will happen? You will have to listen to find out!
